Komorebi

I really love the Japanese poetic term "木漏れ日 Komorebi," which describes the calming, comfortable sunlight that spills through gaps in trees, buildings, or objects. Observing the interplay between light and shadow brings me a sense of tranquillity. In German vocabulary, the word "Muße" conveys a feeling of reflection, with freedom, peace, relaxation, and contentment, which is similar in sentiment. For me, both appreciating Komorebi and practising 墨流し Suminagashi art are precious moments of Muße or Zen.

Whenever a hint of unease arises in my heart, I reminisce about the feeling of witnessing Komorebi, which pulls me back from anxiety and helps me regain my calm instantly. This subconscious training constantly reminds me to see the essence of things during those pure, peaceful, focused, and relaxed moments until I gain insight and find ways to cope with various people and situations in life. The moment I change my perspective and view things differently is when I transform my worries into strength. This practice of mindset transformation supports and reminds me to face life's difficulties and challenges with calmness, resilience, and courage. I am on the journey to keep learning and practising.

I once read a passage in a book that left a lasting impression on me:
"In a pitch-black cave, the first spark was created by humans rubbing stones together, marking the moment of enlightenment."

Light and shadow coexist; without light, there is no shadow, and without darkness, we cannot perceive brightness. Similarly, joy and sorrow intertwine in our life journey. It is this relative relationship that gives birth to moments of "hope." This reminds me that life's difficulties, pain, and heartbreak are all lessons to help us grow. Sometimes, some negative experiences allow us to appreciate the value of the positive more deeply. With gratitude and faith in our hearts, believing that everything has the best arrangement, we can work hard step by step to gradually overcome challenges. Trust that each difficulty is perfectly suited to our abilities, not more nor less. With determination and sincerity, we can slowly break through obstacles.

Grateful for all the beautiful encounters in life.
